    Our MLK speaker, Colette Phillips, believes in the importance of celebrating diversity in our communities.  Colette has been an ally to many different groups, including the Jewish community, and models an understanding of the issues each group faces.  She originated Get Konnected! an event that builds bridges and creates cross cultural and inter-racial social networks and connections. There will also be an adult Humanist service and Sunday school.

    ADULT SERVICE and PROGRAM (Speak for the Trees – Tu B’Shevat, Jewish Arbor Day) and SUNDAY SCHOOL

    Celebrate TuB’Shevat, the Jewish Arbor Day, when we recognize our need to care for trees and all living things on our planet.  David Meshoulam, KB member and science educator, will tell us about trees, their importance to us and how we can preserve them and our environment.

    There will be a celebration of TuB’Shevat, activities for children including Sunday school

    David (pronounced Dah-veed) Meshoulam teaches at many levels – children, teens and graduate school courses.  He has created innovative interdisciplinary courses in science and he co-founded Speak for the Trees.

    Lillian Wald, founded the Henry Street Settlement House in the Lower East Side of NYC, one of the first settlement houses in the country. She was a strong advocate for immigrants.  Babson College Professor, Marjorie Feld, author of a biography of Lillian Wald, will tell us how Wald made a difference for immigrants and did much more.  There will also be Sunday school and adult service.

    Our congregation wide book selection for this year is Lost in Translation: Life in a New Language by Eva Hoffman.  On this day, we will break into discussion groups about the book.  You are welcome to participate whether or not you have read the book.

    At noon, we celebrate Purim with a carnival    including games, prizes and refreshments.  It is fun for all ages! Visitors welcome.

    Family Shabbat

    Children, Parents and People of all ages come and Welcome Shabbat.   We will sing, recite our humanistic blessings, light candles, and play a play a game about shabbat.  The evening is led by Zach Mayer and Frances Lasday.   To join in, gather candles, candle sticks and matches to light the candles. Challah and grape juice would be great too.  RSVP to info@kahalbraira.org for Zoom link and a copy of humanistic blessings.
